Welcome to the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA)

The NIA was established in 1971 as an umbrella organization for all insurance and reinsurance companies in Nigeria. It has since then, offered its members a forum to speak to one another and for all of them to speak with one voice to the Government, its agencies and other parties on matters affecting insurance business.

The NIA organizes conferences, seminars and other events for members and also publishes a wide range of books and journals.

CIIN Leadership Visits NIA Chairman and the Governing Council of the Nigerian Insurers Association

On Thursday, 29 August 2024, the President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman and Governing Council of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) at the NIA Secretariat.
The visit was made alongside other council members of CIIN; during the visit, Mrs. Ilori engaged in discussions with the NIA leadership, focusing on the advancement of the insurance sector in Nigeria. The meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between the CIIN and NIA in promoting professional standards, enhancing public confidence in insurance, and driving industry growth.

Nigerian National Bureau, ECOWAS, Commemorates Four Decades of ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme; Reinforces Commitment to Continuous Innovation and Collaboration

The Nigerian National Bureau, in collaboration with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), is proud to celebrate the 42nd Anniversary of the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme. This significant milestone marks over four decades of successful implementation and operation of the scheme and its contributions to regional cooperation and integration.

Since its inception on May 29 1982, the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme has played a crucial role in facilitating the movement of persons and goods across the ECOWAS member states. The scheme provides compensation to road accident victims for bodily injury, death, and material damage within the ECOWAS region. This initiative has provided individuals and businesses with essential protection and peace of mind while promoting the free movement of goods and services within the region.
