The NIA Governing Council is the apex decision-making organ of the Association and comprises Chief Executives of member companies, who are elected annually at a General Meeting of all members. The Governing Council is regularly furnished with information on issues related to insurance practice by a team of specialized technical committees and the Advisory Committee of the Council.

Mr. Kunle Ahmed has over 22 years post-tertiary Institution experience having graduated from the University of Ilorin in 1987. He also attended and graduated with distinction from the West African Insurance Institute, Banjul Gambia. He commenced his insurance career in 1993 and worked for a decade at IGI before joining AXA Mansard Insurance Plc. as a pioneer staff in January 2004.
Over the last 12 years, Mr. Ahmed has served the Company in various capacities – Head, Energy Team from February to August 2004; Head, Regional Offices Group, September 2004 to December 2007; and Head, Energy Group, January 2008 to March 2011. He is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London. Mr. Kunle Ahmed was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer in 2017.
He is the current Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), the umbrella body of all insurance and reinsurance companies in Nigeria.
Bola Odukale is an astute professional with over 30 years of experience spanning across the insurance industry.
She is a 1989 graduate of Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state, Nigeria. She also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.
She’s an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers. She began her insurance career in 1991 as a superintendent at Nigerian Life and Pensions Consultants (NLPC), a foremost insurance broking firm. At NLPC, through training, she gained expertise in pensions administration and insurance consultancy. Through hard work and dedication, she rose to become Senior Manager (production) before exiting the organisation in 2001.
Bola Odukale joined Capital Express Assurance within its first year of establishment in May 2001 as Branch Manager. She successfully undertook various roles and occupied different positions through promotions in the organisation. She was nominated to the board as Executive Director in 2012 and subsequently became the MD/CEO of the organisation in January 2013.
Bola Odukale, at different times, occupied various positions and played different roles within the insurance industry including, a member of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) where she rose to become the Deputy Chairman, member, of the board of West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA), member, board of the College of Insurance and Financial Management, member, board of Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Company PLC, member, Mentoring Committee of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), member, Insurers Committee of National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), member, Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA).
Bola Odukale exited Capital Express Assurance in December 2023 in compliance with the tenure limit as stipulated by NAICOM.
She is a devout Christian and a mother of three.
